How can I prepare for my voluntary service?

In Togo, you will encounter lots of friendly people who will welcome you open-heartedly. Time and again, our volunteers tell us how much they enjoy the people's open-mindedness and friendliness in our West-African country. However, you will find yourself in a completely unknown environment. Learning a few useful terms in Ewe, the local language, might be an advantage for you. Furthermore, doing some research about Togo and its population may also be of help. 

 

The location of your project is likely to be the city of Kpalimé.

Documents in support of an application

We kindly ask you to send us the following documents as soon as possible (via e-mail: agertode@yahoo.de):

  • CV including a photo and an indication of your French skills
  • Motivation letter
  • Extract from a judicial record
  • Copy of the certification of your travel insurance

After having received these documents, we will reach out to you. Thank you in advance for taking an interest in our organisation. Messan speaks English, French and German. 

Overview of the costs

First four weeks in total:

EUR 550.00

 

This amount covers:

Accommodation / Food / Collecting you at the airport / Driving you to the airport for your return journey.

 

Every additional week: EUR 90.00

Flight

After we have reached an agreement about your field of activity and the period of time that you will stay with us, you can book a flight to Lomé, the country's capital, yourself. We will pick you up at the airport (about a 2.5-hour drive to Kpalimé). In case your flight arrives after 5 pm, we will organize a night at a hotel for you and the person who looks after you. For this scenario, you would need to pay an extra amount of EUR 100.00.

Visa

Please inform yourself a sufficient amount of time in advance about the prerequisites for a visa at the Togolese embassy in your country. If you have any questions, Messan will be happy to help you.
